RoyalMills in Manchester Business & UK Resources

RoyalMills was setup by James Fox who now lives in the McConnel building within the new development. Royal Mills used to a cotton mill for 170 years and was previously known as Ancoats Mills. King George VI and Queen Elizabeth visited the mills in 1942 and the old mill was renamed Royal Mill in their honour. The mill finally closed in 1959 leaving the building to be on Manchesters At risk register in 2001. ING Real Estate took over the building in 2003 and annouced a £65 million preservation plan to restore the Royal Mills complex featuring a mixture of shops, offices and leisure outlets. Today the development is still in progress but the future is bright for Royal Mills as much of the development will be complete this year.
