Greater Manchester Police in Manchester Business & UK Resources

By 1969, the Greater Manchester area was policed by the Manchester and Salford joint force and the constabulary forces of Lancashire and Cheshire. A further amalgamation in 1974, brought into being Greater Manchester Police, a single force serving some two and a half million people and covering an area of 500 square miles.
