Local Justice in Manchester Business & UK Resources

The battle to preserve the local Magistrates Court in the City of Salford has taken two significant turns for the better. The Greater Manchester Magistrates Courts Committee have obtained the go ahead from the Lord Chancellors Department and the Home Office to seek Private Initiative Finance to build a new Magistrates Courthouse in the City. The Local Authority, Salford City Council, have identified a site for the new Courthouse in the Swinton area of the City. It is anticipated that the new building will be completed by 2006 and may well be a part of a larger project to be known as a Justice Centre. The staff and magistrates at the City of Salford Court are most grateful to all those who voted on this website and who wrote or emailed their objections to the proposed closure.
